Managing API Keys
Create, rotate, and revoke API keys securely
Key Naming
Give your keys meaningful names to help you identify them later. For example:
production-mainstaging-testingdevelopment-local
Key Format
All API keys follow a consistent format:
sk_live_<32 random characters>
Or for test keys: sk_test_<32 random characters>
Tracking Usage
Your dashboard shows:
- Created date
- Last used timestamp
- Total requests made
- Current status (active/revoked)
- Assigned permissions
You can also include optional telemetry headers from your client to help with attribution and debugging. See Telemetry & Attribution Headers for details.
